Welcome to The Kalani Foundation 501c(3)

Kalani Foundation has a Federal Trademark Serial # 88786530 and is a Missouri Nonprofit Corporation formed in November 2019. Although, newly formed, we have been serving the community since 2015.

Domestic violence effects 1 in 4 women by their intimate partner at some point in their lifetime, according to the CDC 2019, and 1 in 3 women will experience some form of sexual violence during their lifetimes. Domestic violence has effected my life since my childhood and whether it was within my family unit or with men I dated, all I knew was violence until I almost lost my life.

After my abuser cut my dog Kalani's leg, I saw a horrid look in her eyes that spoke to my heart. I had to get Kalani out of that environment to save her life and in turn, it actually saved my life. I was being abused and when my dog was injured by my abuser, I knew it was time to leave. I had to make a safety plan to escape.

The Kalani Foundation was formed in July 2015, and in November 2019, we received our Nonprofit Articles of Organization and EIN from the State of Missouri. Our mission is to provide immediate resources for women, kids and their pets fleeing domestic violence.

We hope one day to incorporate safe haven housing in Smithville, Missouri, to help women with immediate housing needs when fleeing from domestic violence.

According to Your Thrive Tribe, 2019, 92% of women that are homeless have experienced domestic violence in their lifetime. The Kalani Foundation will help women, kids and their pets with immediate resources like food, clothing, rides to school, counseling and housing.
